IS BREAKFAST REALLY IMPORTANT--YES

A study, approximately 1 year ago, on the affects of a good morning meal concluded that breakfast is not important enough to warrant doing your best not to skip it or making sure your children do not skip.

The reason past studies have given for the importance of breakfast seems to be based on what the author states as an unfounded fact that breakfast helps or is essential in the battle of weight loss.  While this may be true I feel he misses the point of the meal.

Breakfast is necessary to prepare the individual for the day’s events.  Theoretically, you have just gone 8-10 hours without food or water and the need to put nutrients in should be paramount.  Waiting until you are hungry to eat is like waiting until the “you need fuel” light comes on before ever going to the gas station.

Perhaps eating breakfast will not help you lose weight but it will keep you best prepared for daily activity. Hopefully the day includes exercise, which in turn will help you stay healthy, fit and if needed help you to lose weight!
