Saying No to Late Night Eating is the Heart of the Matter

Below is a point by point of a study focused on the timing of meals and cardiovascular health. Very interesting and worth the change in habits.

Why Late-night meals 'increase the risk of heart attack and stroke'

  • Blood pressure usually drops by 10 per cent when a person goes to sleep
  • But this did not to happen when people ate within two hours of bedtime
  • Scientists believe it is because stress hormones are released when we eat
  • Making a habit of late night eating will put you in a category that is 3 times more likely to die from heart-related illness

The above is my summary of a report on a study conducted with 700 people.  Result concluded that eating within 2 hours or less of going to bed interferes with your natural blood pressure drop throughout sleep.  If on a frequent schedule this will lead to ongoing blood pressure problems and ultimately add to degeneration of your cardiovascular system.

Therefore, complete all eating approximately 2 hours before bed to enhance a healthy heart.
