ALTER VITAMIN DOSE SEASONALLY FOR ENHANCED RESULTS
The change in season brings many positives. Colorful trees, cool days and apples to name a few. The primary negative is the shorter daylight and seemingly shorter days. The lack of sunlight and the change in sun angle brings about the cooler weather. It also reduces our body’s ability to maintain vitamin D. A crucial nutrient for many body functions, immunity and mental acuity are 2 that we focus on along with D’s ability to help deliver calcium to bone.
I generally have my patient’s take small doses of vitamins more often thru the day rather than take mega doses once a day. Much better assimilation. When it comes to Vitamin D, however, here is a good rule to follow. When we turn the clocks ahead in the spring take D3 1000mg once a day. When we turn the clocks back in the fall take D3 1000mg X2, once a day. (2000mg once a day does not equate to megadose) This will help counter some of the natural changes that occur with less sunlight exposure and change in sun angle. This will help enhance your immunity throughout the winter months and help make you healthy and happy.
