As the seasons change, this year seemingly sooner than ever, you may experience post-exercise spasms or cramps as you increase exercise intensity and frequency. After your workout and shower, an additional cool down period is necessary to prevent or at least limit spasms beyond the walls of the gym. Your body temperature needs time to adjust and you may have the tendency to begin sweating again after the shower. Take the time to drink water, a protein or fruit smoothie drink. Sit or stand for about 5 minutes and then get on with the day or night. Giving your body that time to stabilize will keep you healthy and prepared for your next workout.
