Winter is upon us in both temperature and snow! It feels best to think about that HOT shower to warm-up and relax. A word to the wise is that the hot water temp, while relaxing will dry out your skin. This adds to the frequency of itching, cracking and all other symptoms associated with dry skin. These are all signs of dehydration. I am not saying a COLD shower, just cool, under 100 degrees.
Your skin is your largest “organ” and deserves better care. Putting lotion on is topical and works temporarily from the outside - in. There are very few topical applications that will actually penetrate your skin. The lotions need to be applied multiple times a day to be effective. Maintain water intake , even though it is winter. The cold temps of the day and the heat indoors will dehydrate both your skin and your body. This is just as important as summer heat hydration. Cooling off the shower works from the inside out as well and will keep you healthy and fit!
