Cables are for a unique possibility for training. Regardless of the physical activity – lifting, carrying, throwing, pushing or pulling – you should be able to mimic athletic movements and train specific muscle groups needed for your particular sport.
With lateral cables, for example, you can train for a golf or bat swing by holding your hands together in a right-handed stance. Swing down and up; keep pulling through the swing. At the end, don’t stop – just reverse the motion and swing left-handed. Keep alternating right and left.
For tennis, use one cable. Stand forward from it and lower the origin of the cable to hip height. Then mimic your forehand, backhand and follow-through. You can also lower the cable to below your hips and work on your overhead and serve. With the cable at shoulder height, work on throwing strength.
Exercise as you would participate and enjoy the benefits!
